Performance gymnasts

SALTO Gymnastics Charitable Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing, confidence and life opportunities of children, young people and adults through accessible gymnastics and physical activity programmes. Salto is a community charity in Sundon Park, Luton, that has spent two decades turning gymnastics into a route into confidence, physical health, employment and belonging, for thousands of children and families in one of the most diverse and deprived areas of England.

We provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in sport in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.

Each year we support approximately 1,200 members across our gymnastics and physical activity programmes and welcome around 2,000 people through our doors every week including gymnasts, families, volunteers, coaches, spectators and visitors.

The SALTO Centre is a valuable community asset used by thousands of people each year. In addition to delivering our own programmes, we welcome clubs and organisations from across the region and supporting the wider gymnastics community for competitions, events and their programmes.

We are proud to provide opportunities for everyone, from children taking their first steps into physical activity through to gymnasts competing at regional and national level.

Through participation in our programmes, members develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, discipline and social skills alongside physical literacy and sporting achievement. We believe these life skills help individuals succeed both within and beyond sport.
 
SALTO operates from Sundon Park, Luton, serving communities that experience significant levels of deprivation, health inequalities and barriers to participation. By providing affo
rdable opportunities for physical activity and community engagement, SALTO helps ensure that children, young people and adults can access the benefits of sport regardless of their background or circumstances.

 

Investing in Our Future

As a charity, we heavily reinvest back into our members, coaches, staff, facilities and programmes.

In 2025 we invested in:

  • Improved safeguarding and security systems
  • New controlled-access entry doors
  • Enhanced facilities for members and staff
  • Coach education and workforce development
  • A new membership management system to improve communication and service delivery

These improvements help us provide a safer, stronger and more sustainable environment for our community.

Developing Future Coaches and Leaders

SALTO is committed to developing the next generation of coaches, leaders and professionals within sport. During 2025, we supported a school leaver through a British Gymnastics apprenticeship programme while also helping six coaches achieve Level 1 qualifications and supporting further progression to higher-level coaching awards. These opportunities provide valuable employment pathways and contribute to the long-term sustainability of gymnastics locally.

Supporting Our Charity

Whilst membership fees support the day-to-day running of the club, grants, fundraising and donations allow us to go further.

Additional funding, grants and donations helps us to:

  • Improve facilities and equipment
  • Train and develop coaches and volunteers
  • Expand community programmes
  • Support inclusive opportunities for disadvantaged families
  • Create new activities and experiences for children and young people
  • Support our managament team in the running and organisation of the club 
Every donation, grant and sponsorship opportunity helps SALTO continue providing affordable, inclusive opportunities for children, young people and adults across our community. Your support helps us improve facilities, develop coaches, expand programmes and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of gymnastics.

Grants and Funding

As a registered charity, SALTO actively seeks grant funding from charitable trusts, foundations, local authorities and other funding bodies. Funding is often secured to support specific projects, community programmes, facility improvements, equipment purchases and workforce development. We also apply for core funding opportunities that help us maintain and develop the services we provide to our members and the wider community.

Support from funders enables us to increase participation, improve accessibility, invest in our facilities and continue delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and adults across Luton and beyond.

 

Donations

Donations play an important role in helping SALTO achieve its charitable objectives and make opportunities accessible to as many people as possible.

Donations can be made towards specific projects, facility improvements or equipment purchases, or they can be directed towards supporting gymnasts and families who may require additional assistance to access our programmes and activities.

Whether a one-off contribution or a regular donation, every gift helps us continue providing high-quality gymnastics opportunities and maintaining a positive impact within our community.

 

Sponsorship

SALTO welcomes sponsorship opportunities from local businesses, organisations and individuals who wish to support our work and promote their brand within the community.

Sponsorship can support a variety of areas, including gymnastics programmes, competitions, events, equipment, facility developments and community initiatives. In return, sponsors may benefit from promotional opportunities such as company banners displayed within the gym, recognition on our website and social media channels, and association with a respected local charity making a positive impact through sport and physical activity.

We are always happy to discuss bespoke sponsorship packages and partnerships that create mutual benefit while helping us continue to grow and develop opportunities for our members and community.

Gift Aid

Make Your Donation Go Further

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you through the Government's Gift Aid scheme.

For every £1 donated, SALTO can claim an additional 25p from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

For example:

  • £10 becomes £12.50
  • £20 becomes £25.00
  • £100 becomes £125.00

Gift Aid provides vital additional funding which helps us continue delivering affordable gymnastics opportunities and investing in our facilities, equipment and programmes.

To use Gift Aid, simply complete a Gift Aid Declaration confirming that you are a UK taxpayer.
